Diet Coke & Mentos

You may have seen this latest craze on the internet, or on television. I didn't know about this phenomena until yesterday seeing it on Good Morning America. Apparently the chemical reaction between the outside shell of Mentos candy and the CO2 in Diet Coke produce a volcanic eruption of soda everywhere. If you want to try this at home, I suggest doing it outside. Stand back fast because the Diet Coke spews quickly. Now we did the simple experement, roll up a piece of paper, insert Mentos, slide them into the Diet Coke and voila! If you want to see what happens, click the pic above and the video will open up. Next time we do this we are going to try to cap it before the eruption, then unscrewing the cap a little, before slamming it onto the ground. The result is a Diet Coke/Mentos ROCKET! Stay tuned.
