Trip To False River

We had an awesome Sunday at False River near New Roads, Louisiana. This is an oxbow lake created as the Mississippi River changed course long ago. Mac and Julie are members of a club there where they keep their sailboat. During the summer there isn't much wind, so sailing was out of the question, but having a BBQ, fishing and swimming are easy to do on a 100 degree July day. Actually later in the afternoon a storm passed by to our south and cooled things off nicely with the rain staying well away from the lake. John Michael and Thomas had no fear as they leaped off the dock about 10 feet above the water. As we drove home, we followed the storm with an incredible lightning show. Many areas that we drove through had no electricity...fortunately when we got home the a/c was running fine!
