Big Win For CHS

Catholic High Football continues to move along in the Class 3A playoffs. After taking Amite 21-10 last Friday in the first round, the Panthers traveled to play undefeated Crowley. A tight game throughout, regulation time ended with the score tied 28-28. During overtime each team gets four downs to score from the 10 yard line. First overtime, CHS scores on first down, and gets the extra point. Crowley answers with another touchdown and extra point to bring it to 35-35. 2nd OT same thing. Both score with Crowley going first. Score 42-42. 3OT CHS starts. 2nd down, a fumble, recovered by Crowley...no score. Crowley's turn, push, push, push, 4th down they go for a field goal. A miss to the left. Still tied 42-42. Crowley begins 4OT, on third down the Panthers intercept the ball so no score for Crowley. CHS takes the ball and on 4th and 4 inches, CHS's Travis Zacharie goes over the top for the touchdown CHS wins 48-42! We are traveling to Independence for the quarterfinals Friday. If they take Independence, the next game for the semis will be at home against either Rayville or Richwood (both near Monroe). If they win that game, then we go to the finals in the Superdome! It could be very exciting, I don't know if it will be more exciting than Friday's game.
